The 52nd Hong Kong Arts Festival (HKAF) features more than 1,400 outstanding international and local artists in over 150 performances of 45 programmes, and more than 350 PLUS, outreach and education events, covering music, musical, Chinese opera, dance, theatre and multimedia. The festival opens officially with the Bayerische Staatsoper’s performance of Ariadne auf Naxos by Richard Strauss, and closes with the Shanghai Ballet’s performance of A Sigh of Love .

Highlighted programmes include the theatre version of Crime and Punishment adapted from the literary masterpiece by Fyodor Dostoevsky which is a thrilling drama about self-judgement and self-redemption; and a heartwarming musical production adapted from an immensely popular animated film, I Am What I Am the Musical brings the unique culture of Lingnan lion dance to the stage.
